Royal Burgers and Emons Group are combining their expertise to develop the next generation of Double Deck technology. The new trailer builds on the proven Double Deck concept and brings together Royal Burgers ’s engineering expertise with Emons’ decades of operational experience.
The goal is clear: to preserve Double Deck’s proven strengths while creating greater flexibility to meet the logistical challenges of tomorrow.
Transport more with fewer trips
The European logistics sector is under increasing pressure. Rising costs, a driver shortage, and sustainability goals are forcing transportation companies to move more cargo using the resources they already have.
Double Deck has already proven its value in that environment. Especially when it comes to non-stackable, palletized goods, a larger volume per trip can directly reduce the number of transport trips required.
The development of the new generation is therefore based on a simple principle: transporting more with fewer trips. By increasing the capacity per trip, transport efficiency rises while the environmental impact per unit transported decreases.

Based on everyday practice
The new generation offers more than just increased loading capacity. Royal Burgers and Emons have explored how Double Deck technology can better integrate with existing logistics processes.
The trailer was designed with day-to-day operations in mind, with a strong focus on warehouse processes, docking, QHES requirements, and flexibility within the transportation network. Thanks to the adjustable floor, both loading decks can be loaded efficiently from standard loading docks.

High volume as a foundation, flexibility where it counts
High-volume FTL remains the primary application. Double Deck provides the most value for non-stackable, palletized loads that are typically 140 to 180 cm in height.
At the same time, the new generation offers greater operational flexibility. Where necessary, the trailer can be configured with an interior height of 2.50 meters to transport 33 units at full height. This creates more opportunities for suitable return loads and helps reduce empty mileage.
The new generation is also suitable for rail and short-sea transport, as well as for EcoCombi and Super EcoCombi combinations.

The new Double Deck technology will make its public debut at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover.
From September 15 through 20, Royal Burgers will showcase the new generation and demonstrate how Double Deck technology can contribute to more efficient and flexible logistics operations.
