Aalsmeer, October 16, 2025– Transport companyJohan van Dijk, based in Aalsmeer, recently put the first two of five newMercedes-Benz Actros Ftractor-trailers and twoinsulated trailers from Royal Burgersinto service. The vehicles expand the modern fleet that the family-owned company uses daily to handle internal transport betweenRoyal FloraHolland’sthree major locations in Aalsmeer, Rijnsburg, and Naaldwijk.

The company, which has been active in the logistics sector for nearly 100 years, now has a fleet of more than 30 tractor-trailers—mostlyMercedes-Benz models—and more than 30 trailers from Royal Burgers.

The delivery of the new Mercedes Actros F tractors was handled by Stefan Hartkamp of Gomes Aalsmeer. With this expansion, Johan van Dijk is responding to the growth in activities and the need for efficient and reliable transport between the auction sites.

"Reliability and continuity are key for us," says Jean Paul Tates, board member Johan van Dijk. "With the new Actros and specially insulated trailers, we can transport our flowers even better and more consistently."

Deliberate choice of insulated trailers

Johan van Dijk has been using Royal Burgers trailers since 2011. The decision to use insulated trailers was a well-considered one. Flowers are transported after being cooled and do not need to be actively cooled during transport. Thanks to the insulation, the temperature is maintained at an optimal level, which helps preserve the freshness of the flowers.

The new 2-axle steered trailers feature insulated panels and floors, and are equipped with a moveable front light and air platform. This clever construction reduces stress on the cables between tractor and trailer, which reduces wear and tear and extends the life of the connections.

With the addition of these tractors and trailers, Johan van Dijk is further expanding its own fleet. This allows the company to carry out more transports under its own management, which not only increases flexibility but also saves costs.
